Ludiah Bagakas is a Statistics PhD student at Bowling Green State University with an M.S. in Statistics and a B.S. in Mathematics from Cleveland State University. Beyond my own studies, I am passionate about empowering students from all backgrounds to approach intimidating mathematical and statistical concepts with greater confidence. My experiences as a STEM Peer Teacher, Graduate Teaching Assistant, and Mathnasium Instructor have shaped both my passion for teaching and my approach to tutoring. I believe that struggling with an advanced concept often begins with a gap somewhere in the foundation, rather than a lack of intelligence or ability. For this reason, I use a bottom-up approach to tutoring. We identify and strengthen the mathematical skills underlying the material before building toward more advanced concepts. My goal is not simply to help students arrive at the correct answer, but to help them understand why the mathematics works, recognize connections between concepts, and develop the skills to approach unfamiliar problems independently.
